In an effort to bring more food to Mississippi tables this Thanksgiving,
let's “Give ‘Em A Bird, and holiday meals, too!”
This fundraising program begins with the official Mississippi Turkey Pardoning
at The Governor’s Mansion and will end with 9,000+ chickens
on the tables of hungry families this holiday season.
With help from you, our amazing friends and donors, we will work tirelessly to raise the funds needed to distribute 9,000 whole chickens, as well as, funds to support feeding in November and December.
Why chickens? Good question!

Extra Table can purchase 3 whole chickens for the cost of 1 turkey.

Mississippi families have more experience cooking chickens than they do turkeys.

Most families don’t have that heavy roasting pan of grandmother's and other kitchen equipment to prepare the bigger bird.

Food pantries can store more chickens at safe temperatures due to their smaller size.

There is more meat per pound on a chicken vs a turkey. Turkeys' bones are denser than chickens.

We are buying our birds from a Mississippi company, which is great for our Mississippi economy!
Our fundraising efforts are multi-faceted! We are asking families, churches, school groups, and our partners in the business community to donate $15 or more. For that amount, we can purchase three whole chickens.

On November 12th and 13th, the Extra Table team will hit the road for the "Henny 9000." This two-day road trip, at the speed of the Indy 500, where we will haul chickens from Gulfport to Hattiesburg to Jackson to Greenville and Tupelo! All of our food pantry partners will receive 150+ whole chickens!

Help Extra Table feed hungry families this holiday season by hosting a “Text-a-Thon Party.” Set a date, time and location. Invite friends to gather and text their network of friends to asking them to support Extra Table's GIVE 'EM A BIRD campaign — a holiday fundraiser where guests will text friends, family, and coworkers asking them to donate $15. A $15 donation covers the cost of 3 whole chickens for Mississippi families in need this Thanksgiving.
